The time has finally come! It's your senior year of high school and it’s time to start planning and researching photographers for your senior photos!

Not everyone chooses to get senior portraits taken, but for those who do, finding the right photographer can be challenging. Here are ## things that you should look for when choosing a senior photographer!

1. Someone Who Cares!

Find a photographer who cares about what you want. This is probably the most important factor to consider when searching for a senior portrait photographer. You don’t want to get someone who just cares about the money that they will make. It is important to find someone who truly wants to provide you with more than just a service but a experience and relationship. Your senior session is all about you! The photographer is suppose to assist you in creating a vision for your photos and provide professional advice.

2. Style

Make sure you review the photographers portfolio! Are their images what you want your senior portraits to look like? You might notice that my personal shooting style is natural, colorful and modern. Other photographers might be more edgy or airy. Choose a photographer whose style suites your personality and personal style.

3. Editing

My editing style is very clean and natural. I want my senior clients to look like themselves, so I do not airbrush your skin. I keep it’s natural texture and remove blemishes and minor skin problems that are not permanent, like acne scars and pimples.

4. Professional Hair and Makeup

Great makeup and hair are ESSENTIAL to a great photograph! Does the photographer offer professional hair and/or makeup? I offer professional airbrushed makeup and hair styling to all of my high school senior clients. My hair and makeup artist Anna Marie from The Beauty Box Columbus is amazing at what she does. She can provide a variety of looks including the most popular natural look!

5. Products

After your senior session, depending on your photographer, two things will happen. One might send you an online gallery of all of your images and you and your parents will be responsible for printing them. Or if your photographer is like me, then they will help you select the best products to fit your needs and wants. I use a professional printing lab to ensure that all of your products are high quality and last a lifetime.

6. Experience

Fact: Anyone can take a photo. Your friend who got a nice camera for Christmas could take your senior photos. But can your friend create amazing images that can be displayed around your home and dorm room that will last for years. I’m guessing they can’t. The Regina Lynn Photography Senior Experience starts from the moment you inquire about senior portraits! I’m here to make sure that you not only get amazing looking photos but have a fun time throughout the process.

How to Achieve Clear Skin with These 5 Natural Products

How to Achieve Clear Skin with These 5 Natural Products

Who doesn't want clear skin? Acne and breakouts are something a lot of people struggle with. I've never struggled with acne but I've had my share of breakouts over the years. I believe in using natural products on my skin so I wanted to share some of my favorite products that I've recently used.

1. Nubian Heritage African Black Soap

This is probably my favorite product out of all of these listed! Dermatologist suggest not using soap on your face but this isn't your regular soap! This is ALL natural! It's made from Shea butter, palm ash, tamarind extract and plantain peel, used to treat eczema, blemishes, oily skin, psoriasis and other skin problems. So far I've noticed acne scars fading and little to no pimples on my face. I normally wash with this 2 to 3 times a week, using the Vanity Planet brush twice a week to deep clean and exfoliate my face. Find a great moisturizer to use after washing and if you have dry skin I wouldn't use this daily.

2. Vanity Planet Spin for Perfect Skin Brush

One product that I love is the Vanity Planet Spin for Perfect Skin Set. I've been using this for about 2 months now and it's amazing. There are a lot of skin brushes you can use but the reason I chose this one was because of the reviews I saw on YouTube. YouTube is GOLD for product reviews! So after looking at reviews I compared it to other brushes, like the popular Clarisonic Mia 2, which I also purchased at a HUGE discount. I STILL paid less for the Vanity Planet brush. I actually opened the Clarisonic and followed the instructions to charge it for 24 hours prior to use. It didn't charge, so now I have to get a replacement. Definitely do your own research to find out which product would work best for you, your skin and your budget.

The Vanity Planet set comes with several different brushes. A daily cleansing facial brush that removes the outermost layers of dead skin, a exfoliating facial brush that removes dead, hardened skin cells, a body brush to exfoliate larger areas of the body and a pumice stone for elbows and knees.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is seriously one of my FAVORITE product to use. I use it as a toner for my face; it closes your pores but also restores the proper pH levels to your skin. It clears age spots, acne scars and pimples. It removes toxins from your face, leaving your skin with a youthful glow. I don't recommend using it everyday because it can dry out and irritate the skin.  I also make a drink using ACV, lemon juice & honey for when I feel a sore throat coming on.

4. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

Mix this with equal parts of Apple Cider Vinegar & leave it on your face for 10-15 minutes or until it hardens. (I suggest following the instructions on the container though). Your skin will love you for it! It leaves my face feeling so soft, the first time I used it I couldn't stop touching my face. I also recommend using ACV instead of water, I found it had better results. I've only used it a few times but I can't wait to see how it helps my skin over time.

5. H2O aka WATER!

This is by far the best natural "product" you can use on your face. Drinking the correct amount of water per day can make the biggest difference when it comes to your skin. I know there are a few people who don't like water because it's so plain but I like to drink my water with lemon juice. I also like room temperature water, this allows me to drink more water throughout the day.

Remember everything you eat shows through your skin. So combining these products along with a healthy diet can make a HUGE difference in your skin!

5 Makeup Saving Tips!

Who doesn't love to save money? When it comes to saving money on products you love, it can be challenging. A perfect example, MAKEUP! According to, a finance manage app, women spend a total of $15,000 in their lifetime on beauty products. Here are FIVE ways that you could save when buying makeup throughout the school year and summer!

1. Newsletter Signup

Most makeup sites have a newsletter signup where they offer you a discount on your first purchase. Take advantage of this even if it's only $5 off. Here are a few sites that are currently offering money off when subscribing to their newsletter.

2. Coupons

Coupons are a great way to save money when buying makeup products. Always check to see if there are coupons available before purchasing anything. A GREAT source for reliable up-to-date coupons is RetailMeNot. They also have a mobile app: iPhone/Android. If coupons aren't available wait until there is a sale or go for a less expensive brand.

3. Monthly Subscriptions

There are a ton of monthly subscriptions that you can sign up for to receive sample products of makeup brands you'd like to try before you buy. Here is a list of subscriptions that are all UNDER $20!

4. Recycle Programs

Back-to-MAC Program! Mac cosmetics will give you a FREE LIPSTICK OF YOUR CHOICE, if you return 6 empty containers of anything that is plastic or glass.

LUSH 5 Pot Program! Take 5 empty, cleaned black LUSH pots to your local LUSH store to receive a FREE Fresh Face Mask!

Kiehl's Recycle and Be Rewarded Program! Recycle 10 full size containers and receive a FREE travel size product. Kiehl's actually has a card that gets stamped when you bring in an empty container.

5. Loyalty/Reward Programs

There are a ton of discounts and freebies when it comes to makeup brands. The most popular by far is Sephora's Beauty Insider Program! You get points when purchasing products and then you can redeem the points to receive a free item from a list, usually you'll have 2-4 items to choose from. They also give you a free item for your birthday. (If your birthday month has already past, just ask and they will usually honor you free gift). A few other places that constantly has coupons is listed below!

I'm sure there are probably a lot things that I didn't mention so if you have tips of your own please feel free to share yours in the comments below!

It's the Simple Things

Everyone is asked this question as a child, "What do you want to be when you grow up"? Kids usually respond with occupations such as a singer, actress, doctor, basketball or football player, model, lawyer etc. It's awesome if they actually stick with it but why limit yourself to one thing?

I've met so many people who just settle in life. They get comfortable with their lifestyle and put their dreams on hold or even forget about their dreams and goals all together. I don't want to be one of those people. I want to always follow my dreams and continue to create new ones.

I fell in love with photography when I was in high school and I continued to explore it when I got to college. I found out the best way to really learn was to get out and shoot. So I started taking pictures of my friends for practice. Once I learned how to use my camera I decided that I could turn my passion into a business.

The road hasn't been easy. There were days (and still are) when I want to give up and quit. It's not easy to follow your dreams. You really have to want it. It's easy to work a 9 to 5 job for 40+ years and retire, it's easy to give up. It's hard to keep going when you just can't seem to get that big break you've been waiting for. It's hard when you put your all into something and get little in return. It's hard to accept failure, but it happens, to everyone! However when you love what you do and the good out weighs the bad, it makes it all worth it.

It's the simple things that bring me happiness and that keep me going. Making a big sale isn't why I do what I do. I love working with high school seniors. I love how excited they get when they see their makeup and their final images at their viewing and ordering session. I love that they want products to show off to family and friends.

So what do I want to be when I grow up? I want to be a photographer, a business woman, a mentor, a storyteller and a continuous dreamer. If we never stop growing why should our dreams.
